1st jailbroken app for AppleTV 2 arrives - Weather app

That was fast! With the jailbreak for ATV 2 just 24 hours old, a small company by the name of nitoTV (Twitter link) has released the first non-official app.

It's a simple weather app, but it's looking nice, and it's a first step into the deep waters of what could be possible on the little black box.

The first picture below is how the app looks once it's running, and the second is of the installer that nitoTV is using.

Jailbreak released for ApplTV 2!

Fresh on the heels of Geohot's iPhone limera1n jailbreak comes iphone-dev's PwnageTool 4.1 for Mac OS X (Windows version most likely on it's way) which offers a jailbreak for AppleTV 2!

Currently, there isn't a whole lot you can do with your jailbroken ATV2 - some command line functions via ssh, plus ifunbox (with afc2) so that you can play around with the files on your little black box of joy.

Hopefully this will get the 3rd party devs working on some great apps that are already available for the iPhone and iPad (I'm hoping for some MKV playback :)).
